About National Geospatial Partnerships
The National Map partnership network cultivates and maintains long-term relationships with partners and develops agreements for The National Map and other initiatives that support USGS science. Partnerships are the foundation The National Map because they leverage funding across organizations to provide significant cost savings, reduce redundancy in geospatial data acquisition and stewardship, and ensure availability of common base data to a broad range of users and applications.

Fiscal Year 2012 Highlights

Agreements

      Elevation

  • Kentucky Division of Geographic Information (DGI) - Partnership to acquire over 2,932 square miles of lidar covering the triangle urban areas of Louisville, Kentucky (Cincinnati Urban Area), Frankfort and Lexington; an area in southeastern Kentucky; and an area over the Fort Knox military base to support multiple studies including flood analysis and response, vegetation mapping, structures mapping, land use planning, and habitat modeling by providing data for analysis. In addition, this data will be integrated into The National Map.

      Hydrography

  • Kentucky Division of Water - Partnership to incorporate karst features into the drainage network of the high-resolution National Hydrography Dataset (NHD).

      Imagery

  • National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, Fort Knox, Kentucky Division of Geographic Information - Partnership to acquire over 2,932 square miles of high-resolution imagery over the triangle urban areas of Louisville, Kentucky (Cincinnati Urban Area), Frankfort and Lexington; an area in southeastern Kentucky; and an area over the Fort Knox military base to support community planning, emergency response, and science, environmental, and mapping user communities. These data will be integrated into The National Map.

Other Activities
